10 Jul OLPH Young Adults
I have been at Our Lady of Perpetual Help for the last 7 years, and I love being here more and more every day. It is my sanctuary and the place
I can go and connect to God when everywhere else seems to be full of noise.
Young adults seem to always be on the run everywhere. We are either trying to meet other people’s expectations or trying to meet our own. It makes it easy to forget to put God into our everyday lives. Sometimes we can forget that is God’s expectations that matters most. What God expects from us is simple; to love Him.
My goal for young adults is for us to continue our faith. When we get Confirmed and graduate from high school, there are big expectations from everyone to continue our education and to know every step we need to take towards our career. It is not always emphasized, however, that our relationship with God is something that we need to establish in order to grow spiritually.
Even though 18-39 seems to be wide age range, I have heard that those years pass by very quickly! With the young adult ministry, I want everyone to have a place that they can look forward to. I want people to take a break from what can be an overwhelming schedule and be at one with God.
Every Thursday there is small groups from 6:30 to 8 pm, in which we gather to learn more about our Catholic faith and read through the Bible to listen to what God has to say to us. Last week our young adults gathered with the young adults from The Church of Saint Luke for a bonfire potluck. We will be having more events this summer so keep an eye on the Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/olphyaministry/?ref=group_cover, for more posts about upcoming events. I challenge you to come or invite someone who you know would love to grow in Christ!
